Gołdap #4 Mazurski Zdrój Orient Gravel
Gołdap is a long way off. And that’s precisely why it’s worth it.
This isn’t a place “on the way.” This is a place you go to because somewhere in the back of your mind you know the road will be different.
Gołdap lies at the junction of the Garbate Masuria region, the Romincka Forest, and the northern Suwałki region. The terrain is undulating, rugged, and open. Postcard-perfect hills, lakes in the valleys, forests that don’t end after three kilometers. It’s a landscape that stays in your head and heart.
And there are gravel roads here.
The kind that anyone who claims the best are only in Scandinavia simply hasn’t been to Gołdap.
Wide, fast, lush.
So smooth that you want to keep going, even when it hurts. Gravel roads that carry you. That don’t fight the bike. That give you rhythm.
The route leads through the Romincka Forest – sometimes called the “Polish taiga.” And that’s not hyperbole. It’s cooler, quieter, and wild. There are descents, climbs, and elevation gains exceeding 150 meters.
One of the unforgettable stops is the Stańczyki Bridges. Yes, we’ll pass through Stańczyki. And what’s more, we’ll have a buffet here. With a view. On one side are monumental viaducts, on the other a bench. And in the background are the winding gravel roads, along which other gravel friends arrive. You can ride. You can sit. Both make sense.
The route also includes Piękna Góra (Gołdap Mountain) – 272 meters above sea level.
Ascend via an asphalt toboggan run. Descent via a ski slope. The views truly make up for the effort. At the top, a café with a rotating floor – seriously. There are places that sound like a joke until you stand there.
The start and finish line are located in a clearing in the Kumiecie Forest – a perfect location for this stage. There’s plenty of space, shelters, a bonfire, and silence. On the other side of the forest: a swimming area and graduation towers.
Because Gołdap isn’t just about the route.
This is Gołdap – the only health resort in Warmia and Mazury and the city with the cleanest air in Poland. It’s a Cittaslow member – and you can feel it. After a ride, you can simply… breathe.
You can race in Gołdap. But you can also experience the day that remains.
Three distances lead through the same landscape: 70 km, 120 km, and 200 km. Everyone will find their own rhythm. The route will be fast-paced and easy-going.
If you want results – the gravel roads will help. If you want views – you’ll get them without question. And if you want to remind yourself why you ride a bike in the first place, Gołdap is a great place to do so. It’s truly worth a visit.
