Featuring: Tour de Chicken Creek (gravel) - Sat, Oct 10. and Octoginta 57 (road) - Sun, Oct.11. Plus an EXPO & Bike Gear Sale (Sun)!

Make it a cycling weekend in Lawrence! Do one or both rides, find bike stuff that you* really need at the LBC Bike Gear Sale*, see what’s going on in the Lawrence area bike scene at the EXPO, visit Lawrence’s three fantastic bike shops, tons of eclectic restaurants and micro breweries galore. Not to mention the region’s most scenic rolling low-traffic rural tarmac and sweetest gravel around! **Do a holiday in bicycler’s heaven! **

We’ve got you covered with a cycling weekend in Lawrence, Kansas, October 10 - 11.  Start off with the Tour de Chicken Creek Gravel Ride Saturday morning before the traditional Sunday Octoginta Road Ride - the 57th annual!

Top it off with the Cycling Community EXPO & LBC Gear Sale** **at the Octoginta finish area! Octoginta Riders; grab your food truck lunch and favorite beverage; then mingle with our cycling community organizations at the EXPO; and then get some previously-owned bike gear that you surely need at the Gear Sale. Proceeds at the sale go to the LBC’s “Buy a Kid a Bike” program.

**Included in the fees:**Chicken Creek - Fully supported with fixed and roaming SAGs; conversational-paced group roll-out after the regular start time; chicken wings and “cheep” beer after; popup LBC Bike Gear sale (mini swap meet).Octoginta 57 - Fully supported with 5 fixed SAGs and a roaming mechanical SAG; SAG 1 breakfast SAG; safety by HAM operators: food trucks, local craft beer and other beverages; Cycling Community EXPO and LBC Bike Gear Sale.

CycleFest Weekend Schedule Details:

FRIDAY2-6:00pm  Early packet pickup for all events (Tour de Chicken, CycleFest Special (both rides), and Octoginta at the Sunflower Outdoor & Bike Shop, 804 Massachusetts St, Lawrence, KS 66044

SATURDAY****Tour de Chicken Creek (gravel) STARTS AT Lone Star Lake Community Building, 665 E 665 Rd, Lawrence, KS 66047 (20 minutes SW of Lawrence). Please follow parking guidance. Plenty of uncongested parking at the top of the hill.

  • 7:00-7:45am  Late packet pickup and late registrations - Chicken Creek

  • 8:00am  100K (Big Bird) start

  • 8:10am  50K (Bantam) start

  • 8:20am  50K (Bantam) casual pace group, led by local gravel experts

  • 2:30pm  Courses close

SUNDAY****Octoginta 57 (road) STARTS AT Broken Arrow Park Shelter, 2800 Louisiana St, Lawrence, KS 66046

  • 6:30-8:00am  Late packet pickup and late registrations

  • 7:30-9:00am  Start for all distances (26, 38, 60 and 80 mile). Riders may start anytime between 7:30am and 9:00am. 80-Mile Riders: START EARLY so you do not miss the 11:00am cutoff at mile 31.

  • 4:00pm  Courses close

**Cycling Community EXPO & LBC Gear Sale ** Pop-up Gear Sale: Near the Tour de Chicken Creek finish area, 11am-2:30pm.Main Sale and EXPO: Near the Octoginta finish area. 10:30am to approximately 3:00pm.Proceeds from the sale of previously owned equipment at the Gear Sale goes to LBC’s Buy a Kid a Bike program.

About the Buy a Kid a Bike Program*The Lawrence Bicycle Club purchases and gives away 25 new or refurbished bikes every year to members of the Boys and Girls Club.  LBC members donate their excess bike equipment that is sold at the Gear Sale. *
