The Routes:
NOTE: SAG support will end at 2:00 PM.
The Metric Century—A 65-mile ride with 3750 feet of climbing. It will take cyclists all the way to the extreme southeast corner of Madison County at Uno and a dramatic and challenging loop from Criglersville to Etlan and back across the mountain to Syria. Rest stops will be provided at Good Hope Baptist Church (at 7 and 18 miles), and at Criglersville School (at 41 and 54 miles). There is a “rolling start” this year. Those choosing the metric century can leave as soon as they check-in, from 7:30 AM to 8:30 AM.
The Intermediate Route—This is a beautiful and challenging 45-mile route with just under 2800 feet of climbing. The first 27 miles shares the metric century route. It will feature rest stops at Good Hope Church (at 7 & 18 miles) and Madison Church of the Brethren (at 35 miles). There is a “rolling start” this year. Those choosing the intermediate route will leave as soon as they check-in from 8:45-9:15 AM.
The Family Ride—By popular demand, we moved the family ride back to the Criglersville, Banco, Syria area. This route will be supported from 10am-1pm. These cyclists will check-in at the old Criglersville School from 10-10:30 AM. You will need to report to Hoover Ridge Park before 2 pm to get your post-ride meal and enjoy the festivities. The complete route is 20 miles and involves 995 feet of gentle climbing. It involves a series of out and backs. Turn around any time you want if the climb gets too steep. You can repeat as much or as little as you want to make the ride longer.
**Rest Stops: **
The Good Hope Church Rest Stop, at mile 8 and 18 miles on metric and intermediate routes, will be staffed from 8:45 AM-1:00 PM.
The Madison Church of the Brethren Rest stop, at mile 35 for Intermediate Cyclists only, will be open from 9:30 AM-Noon.
The Criglersville School Rest Stop, on the Metric Century Route at 41 and 54 miles, and for start and end of family ride, will be open 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
What we support:
Your registration fees pay for all expenses related to supporting the ride. Typically we are able to donate over $5000 to help local organizations. Our proceeds support the following:
Madison County Parks and Recreation’s Hoover Ridge Outdoor Recreation Center project. Hopefully, in the not too distant future the people of the county and our guests will have a splash pad, playground, fitness area, pickle ball and tennis courts, basketball court and hockey rink to enjoy.
Rochelle Ruritan Club: We have pledged to support the club’s college scholarship and J. L. Taylor funds. The College Scholarship program helps worthy graduates of Madison County High School pay for a college degree and the J. L. Taylor Fund provides funds to children of Madison County who could not otherwise afford book bags, school supplies, fees to play sports or necessary equipment.
Madison Women’s 4-Miler Training program. The program helps to prepare local women who want to participate in the Charlottesville Women’s 4-miler, or who simply want to improve their health and fitness through walking or running. All funds collected by the training program are donated to the UVA Cancer Center’s Breast Care program to help women in our area who are facing breast cancer diagnoses.
**All Cyclists Must: **
Wear a helmet and wrist band
Start at the designated time per the rolling start assigned to your route
Bring a well-equipped bicycle in good working condition with spare tubes, water bottles, adequate clothing, a pump and extra cash
