Rowena Roubaix | OBRA 2025 Road Race State Championship

Introducing Rowena Roubaix, a revitalization of an epic old race course used prior to the pandemic. We are proud to announce this race will also be the 2025 Oregon Bicycle Racing Association Road Race Championship. All categories will start in The Dalles at The Gorge Discovery Center and ride the Historic Columbia River Highway up Rowena Crest and over to the town of Mosier, where they will then climb ~1300ft up Dry Creek Road before descending back State Road back to Rowena Crest and the historic highway to a finish in The Dalles. The race categories will dictate how many loops of this lasso riders will complete.

To be eligible for OBRA Road Race State Championship awards, you must be a current 2025 Annual OBRA member.

Note: 1st place winners of State Champs races will get a Castelli 2025 OBRA State Champs jersey + metals & sponsor gifts will go 3 deep.

RACE NOTES

Please be prepared for the elements for this race. March 30th in the Columbia River Gorge can be either beautiful and sunny, rainy and cloudy, and/or very windy.
Riders must be self-supported (there are no mechanics on course), but in the event of a mechanical failure or a crash, there will be a lead car and a tail car to take riders back to the start if they choose to DNF (Do Not Finish).
While we will have flaggers on course for major intersections and lead/tail cars, these roads will be open to general traffic, so riders must be cognizant of cars on the road. Due to traffic and safety concerns, riders who cross the double yellow line on the course will be disqualified by OBRA officials.
There is a gravel section on this course - the rest is smooth tarmac. The unpaved sector is a climb and smooth gravel, but gravel nonetheless. Most racers will want to choose 28-32mm road tires for speed on the tarmac sections, but gravel bikes will also get the job done (and you might be more comfy on the climb).
Please respect all people and properties on this course! Wasco County and ODOT have given us permits with the expectation that we respect the roads and the locals. If we want to keep this race alive, we must make a good impression.
