**Tour of the California Alps – Death Ride | July 11th, 2026 - 45th Anniversary  **

Join us on July 11th for one of the West Coast’s most iconic and demanding endurance cycling events: the 2026 Tour of the California Alps – Death Ride. Starting and finishing in Markleeville, California, this legendary ride takes cyclists deep into the High Sierra for an unforgettable day of climbing, challenge, and stunning alpine scenery, paired with the warm hospitality of Alpine County. The Death Ride is a ride, not a race. Take it at your own pace and complete as much of the course as you’d like within the timeframe.

The Ride

  • 95% CLOSED ROADS** - **One of the Highest Percentages in the U.S.

  • Full Course: 103 miles

  • Over 14,000’ of elevation gain

  • 5 Mountain Passes - Six Hors Catégorie (HC) climbs

Featured Climbs

  • **Monitor Pass **(Hwy 89) – both sides

  • Ebbetts Pass (Hwy 4) – both sides

  • Pacific Grade (Hwy 4) – both sides

Event Logistics

  • Packet pickup, start, finish, and festival activities are all located at Turtle Rock Park, just north of Markleeville.
