Tycho
I coach road, gravel and track cyclists, from motivated amateurs to elite. Your zones come from measured lactate thresholds, not a percentage of FTP. I run step tests in Utrecht and report which method produced each threshold, plus the spread across methods — because on a flat curve two legitimate methods can sit tens of watts apart, and that spread is the honest answer rather than an average that implies precision. Zones are anchored to what was actually measured, so you know what a session is physiologically doing and a retest tells you whether you improved rather than just rode harder. Background: MSc Human Movement Sciences (VU Amsterdam, exercise physiology) and MSc Cell & Molecular Biology (NTNU Trondheim), researching how muscle and mitochondria adapt to training. I race at national level myself. I build and analyse everything in Intervals.icu. A plan that worked for another rider is not automatically yours — your hours, your recovery and your physiology set the plan. https://www.tychocoaching.com
